Suggestion: please give me a call bell
So i know this is a small town and stuff and i shouldnt expect people to actually hang around behind the counter for like 11 hours or whatever each day. I basicly came to the conclusion that if i wanna buy something, i buy it when the store opens, because ♥♥♥♥ - 90% of the time after 1pm they are just gone anyway. and you know, thats ok.

But please. If im in the store, and whoever owns the store is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around between the shelves, can i please ring some call bell on the counter to make him do his job? That pierre guy is constantly complaining about how nobody wants to buy in his store and rainy weather is going to make people stay at home etc. i find it quite hard to believe that he'd just flat out ignore a costumer that actually wants to buy from him.

And if the carpenter (or any shop owner really) isnt there: can she have some sort of list of services and their cost somewhere? that'd be nice.

As far as I know, Marnie is the only one who really abandons her shop... and yeah, it's pretty infuriating.

Clint and the carpenter do it, too. Carpenter is really bad about it. Sometimes she's done by noon

They are all open until 4-5 for all but 1 or 2 days of the week. Trust me, I think we can all sympathize when we go to a shop hoping its open but alas it is closed, but the poor people of Pelican Town need a break too!

Errr... Are you sure? I've literally never seen Robin abandon her post, aside from on Tuesdays...

I've never once seen Clint do that... in my experience, he's by far the most reliable of all of them. I have seen Pierre standing out by his shelves instead of behind the counter, and was unable to buy anything for the rest of that day.

I think Clint does it on Fridays after repairing the CCenter. He goes and stands in the boiler room during business hours.

Oof, recently finished cc again and I was just irked by his ghosty behind.

At least you can always talk to Robin again to build stuff as she passes her counter, that has been a godsend on days I got there too late. Does any other shopkeeper have that mechanic?

i think you're missing the point of my OP.

im not complaining that they arent in the store. i'm complaining about them being in the house but not wanting to service you dispite being open.

i've waited for 2-3 ingame hours just to have the store close on me *while inside* several times in different stores because the owner is at home but not behind the counter. And pierre is especially bad at this because he's often seen just doing... nothing i assume about 5 meters away from the counter.

thats why i want a ringing bell. to make them go to the counter so i can buy from them, not to call them home when they are somewhere else in the village.

If they are in the house and not behind the counter, they're not open... It's your fault for not knowing their business hours.

ok so lets just put this to the test.

pierres shop is open from 9am to 9pm

https://i.imgur.com/PjDGA3J.png

so then why is it that, at 6pm, he's in the store, but i can not access the store? is 6pm not within his business hours of 9am to 9pm? in fact, his store didnt become available for the next 3 hours because he didnt move his ass to the back of the counter. but didnt you jsut say it's my fault for not knowing his business hours?

again, i dont mind them doing stuff around in the village during the day. thats fine.

i just want a call bell like i have in real live when i go to my local asian store and the owner is doing something in the back, i can just ring the bell and he knows "ah a costumer", goes to the front and lets me pay for the things i wanna buy.

As I said, it's your fault for not knowing the opening hours of his shop. The message you see is not the opening hours of his shop, it tells you when his whole building is open. Walk to any house early in the morning and it will say the same thing.

His shop is open to 5 pm, not 9pm. His "shop" is also in his house, so it's pretty normal he will hang around in it. Just because he is at his house, it doesn't mean he's going to open his shop outside his business hours. That's a completely normal concept, you can see it everywhere in the real world. Have you literally never went into a store in your life and they told you "sorry we're closed", even though they had their doors open and they were in it?

Also, what do you want that call bell for? As I said, the shop is literally closed. People are allowed to be on their property without opening their shop. Seriously, this is normal, real world stuff you are complaining about. It makes perfect sense to work like that in the game as well. You just seem not to understand how the game works mate. A single visit to a wiki would have answered all your questions.

well leaving aside this or that i a more or less agree rathen than being in shop constatly in town where nobody lves
its a lot more realistic to have nobody @ counter at all, only to come in upon being called
so not having em in most of the time and then wait for them to come may be better
