Or perhaps not.
@Zombielord Ativan Huh, I didn't know Stardew Valley had mods, but that does make sense.
Do you know how good the mod is? I mean, it probably doesn't work well if the animals and how much you buy them for to begin with/how long breeding new ones takes/ how useful meat is don't add up.
And I forget, do animals in this game start to get old and die anyways?
No, I don't think so.
@Vroomie
Hmm, so there's no actual reason to make meat out of something that's just getting into old age and would pass away anyways.
I'm not opposed to butchery, but I doubt it'll ever get added to Stardew. That mod would be your best bet. Odds are, for proper butchery, they'd have to change the animal-based Farming skills, and add new recipes for the meat. Along with balancing the prices to be worth it. I mean, if you pay 8k for a pig, you'd have to get some pretty expensive bacon to be worth it - unless they drastically increased how often animals reproduce.
The closest thing in-game is ducks, I think. You can make a pretty good profit off of taking the Coopmaster perk to befriend and hatch ducks faster, and when they reach 5 hearts, sell them (just tell yourself you're selling them to a butcher) and a nice profit.
Oh it's not exactly about having butchery in Stardew specifically, I was just wondering if anyone else knew of any games that even has this sort of thing in it.
It's such a rarity, it makes me wonder.
Or maybe it's just following Harvest Moon.
Runefactory 4 doesn't have butchering your animals
Story of seasons:trio of towns doesn't have butchering your animals
Harvestmoon doesn't have butchering your animals (Least not any I've played)
Well I'm pretty sure all of those are made by the same people, so it makes sense.
So the only ones I can think of are still Shepherd's Crossing (Two games) and then sort of slime rancher.
But I'm the one who made it, so...
You can see for yourself:
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/1538/
It adds butchering, recipes, insemination, feeding, new tv channel...
I tried to balance it as well as I could, but everything is customizable, so you can adjust it to your like.
I'm currently working on animal contest.
Is there any way to breed animals the normal way? Just having two of either gender? That, might actually be in the base game and I'm just forgetting, I haven't played it in at least a year.
Oh and if you like the sort of realistic gritty feel of farming in a game like this, maybe check out Shepherd's Crossing 2? By that I mean, with an emulator, the old ds game is going at insane prices online now.
