Gifting artisan items, does crop type matter?
What I mean is, say you make pickles right (just an example, doesnt necessarily have to be pickles, can also be jelly or something else). Pickles are not made from 1 crop, you can pickle a lot of different vegetables with each having different sell prices. Now without going into spoilers as who likes what I just want to know if the game makes a difference in pickled parsnip or pickled pumpkin? Or does the game consider that as the same gift (type: pickle)? And what about other artisan items in which you "control" the "taste" (like jelly etc.)? Do they work in the same way?

p.s. If you still dont understand what im asking here is a concrete example, say I want to gift person A pickled item B, will it have varying "gifting points" compared to pickled item C (just like sell prices vary)? Or is the gift point value the same for both B and C because they are of the type "pickle"?

p.p.s. I've had a discussion with my friend who owns the game (we play together on his pc) about gifting artisan items and well, this dilemma came up lol.

Nope, the NPCs just see it as "wine", "pickles", etc. If Harvey hates apples but loves jelly, and you bring him apple jelly, he'll love it.

Most of the time, they don't care about what type of wine, jelly or pickles they are gifted, but I think there is at least one instance where the type matters. Could be wrong about that last bit though.

So im assuming here that if I were to gift an artisan item such as jelly I better give a low value jelly because its friendship points are static anyway? And save my high value artisan items for sale? Is that the advise here? I'll wait and see what other players might want to add to this.

Better quality items are valued more, but the type of produce used to make them doesn't matter, so yes, Salmonberry wine is as good as Starfruit wine for Harvey, for example, even though the latter is worth 150x as much.

The type matters for cheese, oil and mayo (especially void mayo, which Krobus loves and everyone else hates) but I don't think it does for wine, jelly or pickles.
