I can't play this game with my controller.

I just bought this game a few days ago. I want to play this game with controller, but the game doesn't recognize my controller. I had same problem in Terraria but I fixed it with x360ce software. But in this game I couldn't fix it. I can play all the games on my steam with my controller if they have controller support by the way. So, do you have any soluiton or advise?

I played SV with an PS3 controller, i used MotionInJoy, i simply connected the controller and the game recognize it.
what controller are you using?

I also just plugged in an Xbox 360 controller and it worked without any tweaking.

ive played with wireless xbox360 controller using a receiver and i now use an xbox 1 controller using bluetooth both work fine, i assume you have bought a cheap controller?

My controller is not a Xbox360 controller or offical PS Controller. It's just a dualshock 3 alternative. It just a generic USB joystick. @VAPETIME95 I Would like to try MotionlnJoy but I am not sure if it will work because it is not an offical PlayStation 3 Controller. And @Padgey yes it is a cheap one. But It works properly in other games.

I had to fiddle with my Stardew valley settings/properties > controller to get it to work. Launching Stardew from big picture might help as well.
