2. The trees on your farm do not re grow, but the ones outside of the farm do. Rocks do not re spawn, but there are a lot of them, never had a problem getting them.
3. Not sure about mods, there might be. You can avoid them by running most of the time. There is a second mine that is harder than the first one. Loot is better, monsters are harder. You need to finish the first mine to get into the second one
4. most of the NPCs like fruit, the females like flowers. You will know if you give them something they don't like. Coffee is always a good choice for the adults. When you get some friends, they may tell you what others like.Penny tells you that her mother, Pam likes parsnip, for example. The wiki is a good source for gift giving. There are also some good guides written by players
And welcome to the game. The community is very helpful, if you have questions
Trees chopped off the farm will respawn.
If there are no monsters, there are going to be crafting supplies that will be difficult to acquire in quantity, which may hamper you later in the game when you want to really gear up your income with artisan supplies.
You can probably find out most of the likes of various NPCs by talking to them, talking to their friends, examining all the stuff in their rooms, or finding the Secret Notes that you can find during mining, or other play.
Good to know for the no time limit. I just want to chill while playing this game without pressure :P
Ah nice ! I was hesitant to farm wood composants outside my farm to not destroy the nature.
I see... The combat gameplay is just horrible in my opinion. I'd like just to mine without getting attacked. I'm not here to fight monster ^^ I'll try to find a mod about that.
Thanks a lot ! I don't need more information about the gift. I'd like to opens the wiki just for some informations about the craft and things like that and discover the rest by myself.
Thanks. I hope to play a lot with this game. For now, I like it a lot ^^
Bad news for the monsters... Do you have some tips for the combat ?
2. Trees in the forest and other areas will regrow in any season, I believe. Trees you plant yourself won't grow in winter. Try to stockpile wood before then. You can plant trees at areas you never visit, like the train station, if you aren't opposed to doing stuff outside the farm.
3. There's probably a non-combat mod, but you'd presumably lose access to monster drops and the slayer goal rewards. I recommend taking it slow if you're having a rough time. Grind the low level mines, prioritizing killing bugs. After killing enough bugs, you'll finish the guild challenge, and can claim a free sword as a reward. The sword will usually be good enough to last the average player until at least level 80 in the mines. After that it feels kinda weak. Remember that the more you kill, and the more you level up, the more health you get. So if you're having a lot of problems with combat, consider bringing some stat boosting food like crab cakes to buff your defence, or wear a ring that boosts your stats. (Tip: Kill enough bats and you'll get the vampire ring, which heals you every time you kill something!)
4. In Winter, you'll unlock the "Secret Notes", which are randomly found while gathering stuff. (Like wood or iron.) Some of the Secret Notes will tell you everyone's loved gifts. Like you'll find a page from someone's diary, or somebody's shopping list. Otherwise, you'll sometimes be told by NPCs. (Like Demetrius will say "Don't give my wife Clay, she hates it!") The rest will be from your own intuition and guess work. Like the goth kid likes tear drop shaped items. The jock likes a dish that boosts your stamina. The girl who loves the beach, loves coconuts. The girl who makes her own clothes, loves cloth. A lot of the loved gifts "make sense" after you figure it out, but might be hard to guess on your own. Some are completely random, though, like they just like a particular fruit or flower. Secret Notes are definitely the easiest way. But if you experiment, the game does keep track; if you check the Social tab, you can see what gifts you've given people, and whether they liked or hated it.
General rules of thumb: everyone hates raw fish and crafting supplies, like stone and copper. A handful of people like some uncommon materials, like batteries and gold bars, but not many. Almost everyone likes fruit and flowers. (Salmonberries and daffodils being exceptions.) Most people hate monster parts, like slime. Everyone hates garbage.
I think I'm good now and have every information I need. I'm not sure I will have everything maxed when I'm in year 2 (I have just the Coop building and I have'nt yet upgrade my stuff because I don't have copper) but if the "exam" can be retake later, I have a lot less pressure :D
Thank you for your help !
On the farm, trees will drop seeds, if the seed has enough space, a new tree will grow. So if you want trees on your farm, first, get your foraging skill up a point or two, and then save the seeds you collect when you chop down trees. These seeds can be replanted in places you want trees, and the seeds can also be used in a simple crafting recipe that'll restore energy.
Historically, most farmers actually did dedicate some of their land to grow trees, so that they'd have wood to do crafting with, and for firewood.
- Always forage seasonal bush-type fruit: blueberries, spicebery etc. Easy foodsource for mining (+easy gifts, not all townsfolk like it, but most do)
- IF you pass by the saloon, check the trash there will be random stuff that might help. All places with trashcan randomly have stuff, usually related to their place (saloon usually have dishes that they sell that day, ores in the blacksmith's trashcan ect).
Note: watchout don't let the townsfolk see you when you're dumpster diving (they find it gross)
- Snackbar (craft from seed) for emergency snack is useful. But hold on to some of your oak and maple seed as they're harder to come by and you will need them in mid-to-end game for Tapping
I did not know about the trash can but indeed, you can find some food in it.
I'll try to progress in the mine levels now :P
Rainy days are really good mining days because you don't have to worry about watering your stuff the early hours of the day and can just head straight to the mines.
