So I finally figured out why I hate Ancient Fruit
That feeling of when a new season starts... and you rush to the desert and or pierres to buy seeds for the season... all completely gone with ancient fruit. It's throw the first batch into the seed maker and print money till winter. It's such a boring crop. And before you say just don't use it, I'm not. Just letting people know that ancient fruit can completely remove some of the luster of the game.

This has been argued since basically the game came out, so I don't see much point in continuing to bring it up. There's two options, use it in moderation or don't use it at all. Sensible players might continue to grow a couple of them for the hell of it in Spring or in the greenhouse, while continuing to plant as they normally would.

Seriously, you can make the exact same argument about blueberries, strawberries and especially coffee. Slap down some coffee beans, plant what you harvest, and before you know it there's a whole damn field of them. They take an extremely short time to become coffee in the kegs, and they sell for butt loads of money.

Instead of letting it bother you, just play how you want and let others play how they want.

Not really. Coffee sure, but you missed the point. It isn't about the money. I'm about to make a million off of Rhubarb in Spring 2. It's that ancient fruit takes the fun out of the game. You plant once and then no more playing. It's nice early on when you need to mine, but eventually you don't need to do anything else except socialize.

Edit: I'm not telling people how to play by the way, so can the attitude.

like hiroshi said. you can make the same argument about other crops as well. i never planted a single ancient fruit and i "ruined" my game experience by planting tons of blueberries and cranberries. in a very short time all that was left was only socialising and maybe mining.

i think everyone needs to decide for themselves how they want to play the game. thats what its about after all. noone forces you to plant thousands of ancient fruits. if someone plants a ton of ancient fruit then its their choice. it doesnt mean that somethings wrong with the fruit.

it doesnt matter how people "ruin" their game experience. whether its ancient fruit, blueberries, coffee or mods. they will always find a way in such games.
and by that i dont wanna say that everyone ruins their experience by default but the eager ones, those who search for the fastest way possible to make money, will.

so there is really no need to get your panties in a twist just over ancient fruits. i think you worry way too much about it.

Stupid thread. Get over it, don't like it, don't use them. Move on.

rare seed + greenhouse = worse than anything you say. I mean, sure. the couple first you find will end up making new seed. but then it's literal gold shower everytime you sell any of them.

But then again, you're not using the ancient or gem fruit.... you're not putting them in keg or preserve jar. You're not aging them.
I made half a million with 3 rare seed in 3 month. I still got 21 seed left and about 20 casket with gem fruit wine in them just waiting to turn purple rarity. that'll net me another half million. I haven't planted more than 10 crops all year, i'm literally turning my greenhouse into a gem fruit factory and relying solely on fruit trees outside (and a few grape and strawberry... those 10 crops I talked about..

I'm just sitting here, waiting for wine to finish and future wine to grow. enjoying my life with my drunken wife.
Honestly though, when you actually put some effort in it, it doesn't feel bad at all to make money. Especially when you limit yourself to one shipment type - in my case, fruit win.
Someone spent 40 in game year farming gem fruit (rare seed) and made a whooping 135 million gold at the end. or maybe it was 1 billion? I forgot.

So yeah, for some it breaks the "fun" but for other it let them make their own carreer path. I could just skip 3 month a year and gain 50 milion every fall without even trying... but where's the fun in that?
Sure, I like to put some effort in it. but that's exactly what separates you from me. I could just ship the fruit straight away and maybe make a milion per year. maybe 50 million...

but i'm not. and nothing forces you to take any path. just do whatever you want.

on hindsight, those rare seed aren't as rare as they should.... especially with the seedmaker.
I struggled for 3 whole years before making actual money. Everything is maxed out. my winemaking farm only became one on thesummer of the fourth year. At this point I have well over 50 hours of gameplay in this one single savefile.
You only get to truly benefit from ancient and gem fruit once you've spent about 20 hours in. That's how long it takes in most rpg or adventure game to be somewhat strong and start doing "easy" combat/money.

it's all a matter of perspective. No?

True, but you don't really need to make as much money as possible. You only need millions for the endgame items that are completely optional. And people like to challenge themselves by making as much money as possible or doing so using the most obscure tactic they can find.

Personally, I have my greenhouse filled with them and one field of them. But the space in front of my house is used for seasonal crops I need for collections or recipes. And as a player my experience isn't ruined by using the best tactic or getting something too fast.

I do think though that there should be a reason to actually make that much money, which in my opinion would make using the ancient fruits much more appealing. Like maybe there could be an empty lot available in Stardew Valley that you could purchase as a small secondary farm? And maybe you could use your money to help landscape the town and buy expensive things for it?
Well I think that was the idea of the "community upgrades" but there only appears to be one?

Every thread is completely pointless. Ps: ancient fruit is the most profitable.

Next post maybe pigs way too OP xD
Some people like raw/mid stake meat and totally dead meat, it's pure preference. But most of your post is way too negative tbh, we know that you hate a lot of things but what do you like about the game anyways?

It's just engaging. There's always something to do. Always a way to improve your farm. The individual stories are nice. I wish CA had plans to continually update it though... 44k concurrent users earlier. It could be made to be a lot better. I have 250 hours on it though so I'm not complaining about the content. Definitely got my money's worth. It's got good replayability, too. Animal based farm is viable, crops is definitely viable, honey is viable if you know what you're doing, etc. Every new farm I make is different from the last in some form or another, even when I'm chasing money.

lol. Opportunity cost and seed cost. It's the most gross profit, but not the most net profit, especially considering starfruit only grows in one season. In regards to the greenhouse, starfruit will only beat it for one season; after that it will be completely outclassed. Two harvests at 3150 vs 4 at 2650. Do the math.

Said by the guy with many silly threads in this forum... I love to see people who aren't capable of appropriate communication tell others that the community is garbage. You're making it garbage.

Common sense would have told you to not use it if you don't like it so why make a whole thread only to tell yourself (literally) that it kills the fun. You're not even using it but still complain? Wtf?
