Rock Crabs

I'm on a quest for Demetrius to kill 5 Rock Crabs, I forgot about it and I'm on the last day of the quest, is there an ideal location to get rock crabs to spawn? I've heard rocks that have rock crabs have no shadow but some sources say they have shadows but they look different.

I know their is no penalty for failing a quest but it would bother me to miss it, any tips?

Sorry if this is useless to you, cause it's not exactly obscure, but try going between, say, levels 10-29. Rock crabs spawn in the first area of the mines, but not in the part where it goes all dark (30-49). Plus the very first levels don't have monsters at all, and I have this unfounded notion that the levels get bigger and have more enemies after the beginning. Based on that I'd even make a smaller cut and go from 15 or 20 to 29.
Again, sorry if this is insultingly obvious, but I don't think there's any ideal location for grinding rock crabs besides the levels in which they spawn.

They do have shadows, but they are mostly hidden below the actual body while they're immobile. It's pretty easy to distinguish them from normal rocks once you know what to look for, however, sometimes they're obscured by other objects, so it's not a perfect method.

One day should really be enough time for the quest though, even if you just run through the mines normally. Just bring some food so you don't run out of health/energy, and a chest that you place near the elevator (before entering a floor) so you can empty your bags between the runs.

If you want to cheese it though, go to level 20, take the ladder down to 21, have a look around and see if there's any identifiable rock, and if not, take the ladder straight back up. Then, repeat the progress. Since you're entered a different level (20) before heading back to 21, a completely new level 21 is generated whenever you enter it. As a result, you don't have to run around, destroying rocks, wasting time while trying to find a ladder.

This method also works great if you're after a specific ore to mine (but the overall loot will suffer in the process).
