Is there a way to change your name in game?

I don't go by my former name anymore and I don't wish to see it (would rather change it to my new one) while playing however I think the name is locked solid?

You can't change your name in-game, but there are guides you can lookup on a search that will show you if you're willing to dig into your game files.

Note: before you go ahead and make those changes, I'd recommend that you make sure to make backup copies of your files. At least if you make a mistake, there will be a backup to refer to. Good luck!

The changes you need to make to your savefile are very simple.

On Windows save files are located at: %appdata%\StardewValley\Saves

The file you want to edit will be named after your character with a bunch of numbers tagged onto the end of it. Towards the beginning of the file there will be a section that looks like this:

<player><name>YOUR NAME HERE</name>

You just need to modify the name to match what you want the new name to be. Save the file. You're done.

You may additionally want to rename the save file itself, but I don't think you need to if you don't want to.

Additionally, if you use SMAPI, you can just imput, "player_setname" into the console.
