Seed Maker? Not worth it?
I jumped for joy when I was able to craft a seed maker. I thought I was going to save tonnes of money on buying seeds and make lots of money in return, but so far, I feel like the seed maker has been a colossal waste.

Is it actually profitable to use the seed maker instead of just buying your seeds? I feel like all I'm doing is wasting my entire harvest on making enough seeds to replant and having hardly anything leftover to sell.

It has its uses. Mostly it's better for any crop that regrows to get extra seeds for later, or for ancient fruit to get more seeds easier.

The only real purpose of the Seed Maker is for seeds that you can't buy. But if your quite lucky you can triple your crop size which is completely useless who would want to water 3x more, or have 3x their crop size of sprinklers on hand. BUUUUUTTTTT... there IS a 1 in 1000 chance that your seed maker will turn one of your crops into an Ancient Fruit seed which gives it some use.

Alright so just buy my seeds then, at least for the crops that don't regrow. I imagine it is useful for the ones that do, then you can just use up one harvest that year on making seeds for the following year and sell the rest of your harvests. I did get an ancient fruit seed already out of the seed maker so I think I'm good on that one.

It has its uses.

Mainly it's useful for ancient fruit and strawberries, though.

For anything else, it's annoying unless you have several of them. :S

Yeah, basically that. Those are the two kinds of crops that you want in quantity that are somewhat restricted in access.

Oh yeah it is!!
I make 400 of each berry seeds every year and don't have to go back to pierre for more seeds next season, I save almost $100,000 a season putting some of the crap fruit through that I don't have the manpower to make into wine anyway. There's no losses there!

Also when it comes to strawberries it's the ONLY way to ensure you have them before the middle of the month.

It's also helpful when I just don't want to go buy more seeds. I love my seed makers :D.

I agree with this. For me it's a time saver and I don't have to rebuy my stuff at the beginning of each season. Like I just finished Spring and have a jump start for next spring because it takes enough time to plow and plant fertilizer, even with the upgrades.
