Butching

I love meat products and as cute as the animals are...I want the ability to butcher animals or have them quartered somewhere in town. If I do it myself it takes longer as there would a cooldown of sorts. If I went to town it'd work like Marnie's placing of animals; select the barn or coup and select which animal you want to make into dinner.

The higher the heart, the better the quality. I.e: five hearts would give you iridium star.

You could age meat for jerky.

This was in the game, but it got removed because the developer felt it didn't fit the game. It's not going to happen.

Also you can live off vegies forever.
Last i checked the streets were not littered with dead vegans.

Butchering would feel very out of place in stardew valley especially if petting the animals made for better meats. It was a good design choice to take it out for your farm animals.

I suppose it would be ok if there were more animal style monsters in the mines and they dropped meat you could cook though.

But petting your animals and treating them well does make for better meats. That said I support it not being in because the creator decided he didnt want it, and thats his choice, if it were modded in I would use it though, as I see nothing wrong with it.

I can understand not wanting butchering animals in the game, but the way they could do it, is for the animals to produce meat products for us without dying, much like how the rabbit drops a rabbits foot without any harm, only with much more frequency, like maybe each animal could drop a piece of meat weekly.

Perhaps that would be an acceptable compromise?

I too would like to find some way to get meat products in the game.

Ive always seen the rabbits foot as way more grim than butchering an animal, my friends used to raise them, its eating its babies and you just find a scrap left over to sell as a bauble, since the animal isnt dying itself or being harmed, and rabbits do indeed do that, I see that as the only reasonable take on where that foot comes from. Considering you can also murder children and brainwash people if you are rich enough I dont see any reason for it not fitting the tone of the game. I guess id be fine with some sort of meat wand you wave at animals to make them drop a steak if that had been how the creator did it, but since he left it out, id want a mod with actual butchering or just dont bother.

I believe CA has said that he still has the Art Assets for butchering and would be willing to release them to mod makers who wanted to mod them back in.

foie gras and crated veal disagrees with you.
Also pretty much every meat farmer in the world, they treat their animals with neutrality at best and one reason is that its much easier to kill them that way.
