Starfruit vs Melon in the Summer.
Alright, last year in game I planted Starfruit during the summer as my main crop (with some corn on the side) and have been debating if I should plant more of it this year since Starfruit wine is amazing or if I would be better off trying for giant crop melons. My format has 15 Iridium sprinklers in it within a single massive field so it does have chances of growing multiple large crops. Thoughts?

If you're asking about pure profit then Star Fruit is what you want as it gives 750 for its normal quality where melon is 375 for its highest quality .

Assuming your giant melon yeilded 18 crops of the highest quality thats $6,750 which coincidentally is the same price for 9 starfruit of normal quality

Melon is useful for gifting. Both Haley and Penny have loved 2 items/recipes which use melon in them, although for Penny one of those is fresh melon straight off the farm so there's not much point making it into a cake unless you want to RP a little for birthdays... plus everyone else likes melons anyway.

However, Starfruit are hands-down the better cash crop if you're doing large batches of them. If you only do a small field then the purchase cost + 500g for the bus ride (I mean, it's negligible for large runs but on small runs of only a dozen or so seeds that's a significant chunk of money) will eat into your profits more heavily; but since you're already set up for massive fields I'd say go for starfruit and their consistently higher yield.

Large crops are a gimmick.
They dont give a very big boost, have a rare chance of happening and even irridium sprinklers tank your odds of getting one by alot.
starfruit all the way for everything, its basically the only crop you should plant in summer from a profit standpoint.
