the “IIdb” command requires the command line...
I AM TRULY SORRY FOR THE LENGTH (PLEASE READ)
(I have a 2019 MacBook Air, and the game runs beautifully performance wise) Okay I would like to first start this message off saying that this has been the cause of much frustration and I have spent many hours online trying to fix this problem and troubleshooting. Thursday, March 26 I bought Stardew Valley and played it for hours. That night the game randomly crashed and I was prompted with the message “The “IIdb” command requires the command line developer tools. Would you like to install the tools now?”. There was two options, “cancel” or “install”. Without thinking about it I clicked install. When I went back in game it would then randomly crash and give me a new pop up error saying “developer tools access needs to take control of another process for debugging to continue” and it asked me for the password to my laptop. Grudgingly I put in my password and of course it still didn’t work. I could load into game and play for about 2 minutes before the game crashed/froze and I was met by the Mac rainbow spinning wheel which usually means the laptop would be overworking but I assure you it was not. This time there was no error message. I spent plenty of hours looking through many articles for an answer and believe it or not this seemed to be a problem that happened to many people. One suggestion I tried was going into steam and validating the game data. Yay! This worked (for a couple of hours). Then my game proceeded to crash/freeze without the error message like before. I spent more time looking up how to fix it with no avail. Finally I was fed up and thought surely if I completely wipe my computer to factory default like its brand new then the problem will be gone. I did just that. I went through the long process of erasing everything and rebooting back to a brand new laptop. This time on my MacBook all I have downloaded is chrome (I prefer it to safari), steam, and Stardew valley. I got to play for about and hour and yes it crashed/froze and now I am back to the very beginning “The “IIdb” command requires the command line developer tools. Would you like to install the tools now?”. This time I am clicking cancel and I am just not going to do anything until prompted. Please I need help I would love to keep playing this game with my friend.

sounds to me like a computer virus. Never heard of a game or error message asking for your password. I have had crashes and errors in the game lots of time, due to all the mods having conflicts. But NEVER did it ask for my pc password.
Almost sounds like you are being hacked. Viruses can do all kinds of crazy things, like back in 2004 (or there about) when the Blasterworm virus activated on ALL Microsoft windows computers world wide and TURNED OFF you pc if you tried to go on the internet. It was a mess since you could not even go online to get the fix for the virus. I personally spend 4 hours on the phone with microsoft techs over 3 weeks to get mine fixed. (not counting busy signals/hold time)
