How to upgrade existing farm buildings?
For example, Is it possible to upgrade an existing coop instead of building a completely new one?

Yes, it's not only possible, it's the only way you can get a Big Coop. The Carpenter Shop menu is just poorly designed so that upgrades are presented as buildings.

You simply have to pretend that you want to buy a Big Coop and Robin will ask you which Coop you want to upgrade.
