As others (as well as your own experiences) have pointed out, there isn't.
If you've paid for a ticket, Pam will stay in Calico until you take the bus back or pass out.
I was just wondering where the idea came from.
From common sense, really.
You bought a bus ride to someplace. You have no idea what the bus' schedule is. There is no reason to expect that the driver will stay up until 1:20 just for you; she'd get back home around 2:00.
I too wondered about that the first time I bought a bus ride. But then I reasoned that, if the bus left at 17:00, you'd be stranded there; there didn't seem to be a bed, so you'd automatically pass out at 2:00 and lose money. Given that there's a lengthy dungeon nearby, that didn't seem like reasonable game design. I figured she'd stay, even if that makes little sense in the context of the game world.
Yes, I suppose 1k is nothing and the lost Energy costs nearly nothing to recover. Mechanically speaking it's probably best to keep farming the cavern until you pass out.
Passing out and being rescued by a Joja team that you have to give money to, though... flavor-wise, that's terrible.
She arrives at the Bus Stop at 10:00am and will leave at 5:00pm every day.
She leaves from bus stop, not from the desert at 5pm.
But thank you all for the answers.
Oh, that makes sense now. Yes, you cannot leave for the desert after 5 pm. Also, if you go in the morning on a festival day the Oasis store will be closed. There's also one day a year where Pam has a physical at the doctor's office so there's no bus service at all. I think it's the last Thursday of Spring, so if you want cheap DSG for summer, go early.
Doh, I always thought 5pm was the limit.... so many days waisted!
