The sewer can be unlocked by obtaining the Rusty Key after donating 60 items (artifacts or minerals) to the Museum.
I copied this on Stardew Valley wiki and paste it out. That means you read it from wiki, haha you've fallen into my trap.

guess i was going to get there either way, still a rather jerk move on your part, if you didnt want to contribute a vague hint you could have just ignored the post.

Agreed, it was a jerk move.

Warhand, I don't usually do this, but if you want to friend me I'll try to answer any vague-hinty kind of questions you ask in my profile comments. I don't claim to know everything there is to know about the game, but I do have a pretty good grasp of it.

sorry, i try and keep friends on steam to people i know IRL, i can be a tad paranoid, but any you feel like adding to the thread would be nice, i usually do a lot of wiki research with games but with stardew valley it always felt like cheating to look up how to do things since it kind of ruined the magic.

If you don't want things spoiled don't ask the internet questions. The internet is a repository of knowledge, if you're afraid you're going to get too much from googling something then it's best to just figure it out yourself because people will a majority of the time respond just how google would because "a hint" is just plain vague. How much is too much? Would saying "donate" be too much? Would saying "Talk to the museum curator" be too much? No one knows!

So let this be a lesson learned, only ask questions you actually want answered, not hinted at when doing so on the internet.

Now /could/ people just try and give you some vague hint? Sure, of course. Yet will they? Probably not. Why? 'cause forming a hint instead of just telling you requires a bit of creative thinking and figuring out how much is too much, which takes time and for many people spending that sort of time for some random person on the internet simply isn't worth the effort. They're willing to help, but not jump through hoops to do so.

I understand that completely. It was just an offer, no problem.

How is that a jerk move, he gave you the info you wanted, the wiki is there to help, it's not cheap, if you're gonna get pissed about someone giving you the answer, then don't post here, that is the whole point of the wiki and yes, I get that you didn't want the wiki, but if someone didn't know the answer, they would have gone to the wiki, try saying thank you.

TC theres a cutscene entering the forest on day....I'll check the wiki, happens for me in Spring but could be due to certain actions.

Basically says Gunther has the key.

Then he'll ask "so you must be friend with gunther", and when he figured it out that you can't give Gunther gifts he gonna ask, "how to be friend with Gunther". And y'all gonna say that "you can't be friend with Gunther and you must donate 60 artifacts/minerals to the museum" which is what i said and the wiki has written.

The point is I didn't just want the answer, I wanted to find the answer on my own but I wanted a hint in what direction I should take.

I do know how to play stardew valley, honestly "you must befriend Gunther" would have been a good enough hint.

The OP specifically said they didn't want a full, wiki style answer, Azrael posted the whole wiki answer, haha. Not only a jerk move, but a clearly deliberate one. Saying "but it would have gone down that way anyways because internet!" doesn't change that.
DarkStarKnight Jun 15, 2017 @ 12:52pm
Yeah, i missed where he had said that, i take back all of my post, yeah, was a ♥♥♥♥ move
ok, i figure at this point its kind of past the point where anything really productive can be gained, i got my answer, the way i wanted it or not, thanks for the agreement on the jerk-moveness of the reply but it doesnt really solve any issue to keep affirming that. Im sure azrael is a decent person outside of this incident who just figured it would be amusing to do that, misguided as they were.

in summary, i dont want to turn this into a big stink.
