The river one is terrible.
The wiki was a good idea so now I can see all the new farm types and decide which one I'd like to take :)
I would say the forest is the best new map, but still not as good as the default
Also usefull to get red wood.
And once i finished the 1.1 quest line I got to a statue that lets you disable monster spawning and I assume enable it. Which probably works on all farms making wilderness maps monster spawn a kick in the pants since other farms probably can have that too but with thier own bonuses. I was also very disappointed that the best adventurer reward monster never spawns, the dust spirit. So I had to grind them all in the mine.
I think one important thing when deciding on your farm type is what skills are you going to get? Like I have hardwood from cutting regular trees perk so the forest hardwood stumps wouldn't do much for me at all. If your not going crab pots perks the river farm might not be the best?
Personally the quarry map sounds the worst to me. Since you can reach the mine within seconds and how pretty useless the regular quarry is. Where as the fishing map is a nice challenge map, moreso if you avoid crabpots.
