Do tappers work on pine trees in winter?

Pretty self explanatory title.. Just curious, since pine trees seem intact, but I don't want to be waiting for nothing.

They work on all 3 tree types, even in winter.

The only thing they stop working on is mushroom trees.

Brown, read, and purple shrooms

I am guessing that is the only way to get read mushrooms? It turns out the fruit cave is pretty worthless.

Red Mushrooms grow in the cave, yes. You can also get the from the Mushroom floor of the mines.
