Wanna change farm type...
When I started the game I chose the riverland farm. Soon after, I realized it is too cramped for me. I want to change the farm type into standard… Is there any way to do this? Should I manipulate the files inside the client? How? Help me (T_ T)

You're better off just starting a new file for a map change. If it was soon after creating the map, you shouldn't lose out on too much progress, and you can always keep playing both files regardless.

It's my third fall now... I even have a kid. If there's no way to do this, then I have to keep playing anyway. Ive gone too far to restart.

I wouldn't really define the third year as 'soon after', that's a good fifty to sixty hours of gameplay.

Starting a new farm doesn't erase your old one, nor is there risk of accidentally overwriting since it's an autosave function. You're encouraged to try out the other farm type just to experience them even if you don't plan on playing them all the way through- and nothing will stop you from going back and continuing your current file. That being said, if you're worried about losing the progress you've made, definitely don't go screwing around in your save file without a reliable guide (and a backup).

If you're not enjoying yourself to the fullest because of the restrictions your current layout pose, there's nothing wrong with a little variety.

Yeah, three years isn't exactly what I'd consider "soon after", lol.

Just make a new file and play through spring. Then go from there. Either keep the new farm or go back to your old one.

It can be done, but it appears people have more issues with it afterwards then anything else. Not worth it. I suggest either starting over or start to rework your farm layout. You can move buildings now.

Soon after = Three years.
Yeah.

If you change the map type, you will have crops and objects inside walls and over water... not ideal, but fixable with a map editor. It's a major hassle, but it can be done. The large farm is especially conducive to this, as it is almost entirely usable space. Be sure to backup your save, if you attempt it.

This is actually super easy to do. There's a save editor on Nexus mods that will allow you to move your building into place. THEN open your save file in notepad++ search for "whichfarm" without the quotes and set the value to 0. Save and done. Besure to make backups of course and make sure your farm is empty with the exception for buildings. Takes minutes to change if done right.

You don't necessarily have to clear the farm, just the spots that would cause conflict... although it'd certainly be easier to mass delete everything.

Rekkel Jan 24, 2019 @ 6:21pm
Does this still working? I've been looking if I could switch my forest farm to a standard one. It's just because of lack of space to plant crops. I'm in the winter of my third year, and I don't want to lose any progress. Could anyone help me? :steamhappy::brownchicken:
