How much money did you have by the end of summer?
I didn't know much so I ended the summer with 1800, what about you?

0g usually. Money goes into stuff so I don't usually have anything onhand until I have everything I need.

Well, if it's exactly the end of summer then yeah, you should have cash on hand for fall crops.

Cranberreis are 240 each, and pumkins are 100, so that 1800 will be pretty tough to plant fall with, even if you're going small. Well, if you fish\forrage you should have money for seeds in a few days.
Should I just start over?
Year 1, probably 1000 - 2000
Year 2, 10k - 20k
Year 3, 100k - 200k
Year 4, 1.5mil

I only started familing at the end.

I don’t recall what I had at the end of my first summer on my first play through. Maybe 10-20k? Maybe less? I don’t really recall. I didn’t have many sprinklers my first play through, so I planted a lot less my first fall.

This most recent play through I’m doing I think I had around 40-50k.

And … I spent just about all of it on crops. I bought 48 Cranberry plants (which came to about 11k all on its own), 32 grapes, and at least 16 of everything else (to start with). I replanted Bot Choy, Wheat and Amaranth throughout the season, and I did a total of three plantings of Pumpkins (16 each) (one at the start, and then a second about a week later, then when the first crop came in, I replaced that one).

Of course, I prioritize sprinklers now, so I had enough to cover everything except the Corn I’d planted at the start of Summer. Otherwise I couldn’t handle watering that much.

Some people generate way more money than I do.

But it’s possible to do just fine with a lot less too.

Go at your own pace.

It’s summer 24 for me right now I’ve gotten 160K in total and I have another harvest coming before the end of the month. I just put down an upgraded barn and coop with 1 duck 3 chickens, 1 cow and 1 goat for bundles. Level 9 foraging fishing and farming so I’m feeling pretty darn good with my nice house and big ol bag.
i usually try to keep atleast 20k on hand at the end of each season so i can stock up on crops
I'm playing river farm currently. With Automation mod.
I aim to have 0g at the end of my first Summer simply because I'm in very dire need of better tools, to free the space for fish smokers, chests and paths for crab traps.
Copper is not enough to get rid of everything - and iron tools are quite costy at Year 1.
Joja route awaits...
I usually get 400-600 Cranberry seeds, so that's roughly 100.000 - 150.000 g i try to aim for from the end of the first summer.
This thread is from almost eight years ago. Aside from some exploits that were patched out, It's significantly easier to make money than it was back then.

I'm mostly concentrating on berries as my main income for the first year and in that regard the 1.1 patch in october 2016 made blueberries (lost 37,5 % of value) and cranberries (lost 42 %) way less profitable. Before that i probably would've gotten to like 300.000+ with ease, so for me personally, it actually got harder and there were no additional patches changing their profitability ever since then (the people in this thread back than could've used my strategy as well btw)
