Coffee sucks! Eat Crab
I see lots of people suggesting to use coffee to speed up your character. Yet the speed boost only last about a minute and a half. Would take a lot of stops to drink your coffee. I found that crab cakes work much better. They offer same speed boost but last for almost 17 minutes, plus +1 defense (for you cave divers!).

You need a few crabpots on the beach, a cow and chicken and either buy or make your own oil and flour.

Sure viable, but that's a lot of preparations compared to coffee beans that you just need to plant once, gather every several days, place into keg and it's ready.

You don't get the recipe until Fall of year 2... That's close to the end of a run for a lot of people

I don't think prep is a big deal assuming you have the chicken and the cow for egg and milk. oil and flour is easily bought at the store.

I'm in year 3, so didn't really think about when you get the recipe. People really stop playing after year 2? :dswilson:

I'm at the end of year 3, taking my time, still have stuff to do.

To OP, thanks for the suggestion.

I think for most people, the first run goes to around halfway/the end of year 3. After that, your second run MIGHT go to 2 years. By that point you're usually pretty knowledgable about the game, and get all your goals done by the end of Spring year 2, generally.

For reference, here's my farm on Spring 2, Year 2.

(Note: I didn't do Farming or Fishing this run; I afforded all this via Mining, Combat and Foraging. The sprinklers are for growing leeks, dandelions, daffodils, etc.)

Once you know what you're doing, a lot of times you don't play the long game anymore.

Eh, Coffee's easy. I got six coffee plants in my greenhouse, and six kegs for brewing so I've got a constant supply of the stuff and about 200 in my refridgerator right now. Plus, I'm not losing any potential money to be made from my farm. Year three, winter, and I've still got a heck of a lot to do.
