Friendship hearts randomly increasing??

It seems like overnight my relationships with most villagers have gone up one or two hearts... I'm not sure if it's a glitch or if it's the game catching up with itself. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not that I know of. It might be because you put something good into the Luau pot.

The Luau festival gives friendship if you put something nice in the pot like Floppo said, but also can reduce if you put in something no one likes. Talking to villagers during the Night festival also gives friendship. Dancing with someone during Flower Festival gives a heart to your partner. Doing delivery quests for villagers increases friendship. A section of the Community Center bundles (I think the Bulletin Board one) gives everyone two hearts also.
