F key pauses the game.
M key pauses the game.
E key pauses the game
Eating something pauses the game.
I have never found a shortage of ways to bring things to a stop when I need to.
What the hell do you want?
What I want - as I said in my opening post - is to be able to see the full screen in order to plan my farm layout. Those other options do pause the game but they obscure the screen - as I said in my opening post.

3,499,998 have managed to get by without a pause button, the two exceptions being spitfire and dalgo.

Yes that is an excellent planner and I do use it to plan my farm layout in advance, for the position of the main buildings at least.
I'm not going to say it's a bad idea but it's not really something I personally see the need for in the game but I wouldn't be against it being added, nobody after all would be forcing me to use it.
