It's not like the ultimate ring or anything though.
I like it because it serves you in many situations, like doing something on the farm at night or getting quicker through the caverns because it don't have to pick up deliberately every loot that gets dropped.
It's more of an allrounder whilst the Slime ring has a more specific purpose.
It really depends.
You use tappers, different trees give different products (Maple Syrup, Oak Resin, or Pine Tar). Truffle is a type of mushroom that can only be spawned by a pig on the farm when the pig is outside the barn.
You get truffles after upgrading your barn twice, unlocking pigs in the process.
Pigs have a chance of digging up truffles after they mature.
For tar you have to build a so called tapper and place it on a tree.
After 4-5 days it will have gathered the resin of the respected tree (Pine, Maple or Oak).
(I don't consider the 10% damage to be much of a factor since my attack is already upped by 25% with the combat proffesion)
My typical attitude toward mine-diving is to go through the place as quickly as possible while gathering as much loot as possible. For that, the magnetizing effect is very useful; I don't have to double back to grab drops as often. But if your goal is more about being safe, then sure, the Slime Ring is gonna help more. If it comes down to having extra drops appear versus having drops come toward you more easily, I'd take the extra drops from the Burglar Ring.
