Has anyone found a Palm Fossil in the Desert/Beach lately?
Hello! So I'm searching for my last artifact to finish off the museum collection, the Palm Fossil. After googling around I saw lots of people claim it was found at the beach/desert as well as the Cindersap forest, but the wiki doesn't list them. There definitely appears to be evidence that they *used* to appear there, but I'm guessing not anymore? Before I waste countless amounts of gold heading to the desert every day, can anyone let me know if they've seen one there in the last couple months?

I'm also using this video for reference - while modded to hell I'm thinking the spawns themselves were unaffected, in which case the palm fossil only showed up in the forest, nowhere else. :( https://youtu.be/9fw6-kysrrA?t=654

The data file that determines where you can find a Palm Fossil lists the Desert, Beach and Cindersap Forest, so that's what the wiki had listed for the last 2 years.

Recently, it was discovered that there is an extra field in the data file for the Palm Fossil (and 6 other artifacts as well), so the game doesn't properly read any of those locations. Instead, it falls back on another data file, which lists only Cindersap Forest. The wiki got changed, the wiki is accurate now, and unfortunately you can find the Palm Fossil only in the forest. No need wasting trips to the desert.

Good luck!

Thanks for the answer! A bummer, but better than me wasting my time endlessly for an artifact that can't be found there. :)

Very good to know. And a very nice, detailed explanation. :)
