I am such an idiot...
When am I going to remember to make sure to never have the pickaxe equipped when I harvest my crops? That's one less profit....

Just had to get it out. :P

Oh, yeah, that happens to me too, it's frustrating.

Glad it's not just me. I try to have empty hands or something that won't do any harm, but I tend to slip up.

Happens to me too so I try to have a watering can equipped at all times, the graphic is annoying when you mis-click but at least you can't overwater the plants.

Yeah, precious seconds are wasted when it happens, but at least it's not destroying the crops.

Hey, it's not as bad as collecting your diamonds with a pickaxe...

Best thing to do?

Put your Watering Can in slot one. That's the default slot, so ... if you don't have something else selected, you'll just end up watering your crops rather than destroying them.

I'm pretty sure you can actually harvest with right-click, which ensures that if you miss-click you won't use the tool you're holding and accidentally destroy a crop.
This can however be annoying if you're holding something you can eat, as you will constantly be asked if you want to eat it.

Yeah I've done that some times, and I have some times eaten things I've been holding by mistake, including a precious truffle. 1491 gold wasted. :P

I find that it's best to hold either the scythe, a sword, a dagger or a club, since they don't waste energy or cause damage.

I hate the slow sword block freeze

Thanks to all who suggested holding a scythe or weapon as default, I'm gonna try to stick with that. :)

The challenging part will be to remember switching back to it right after using the pickaxe. It's also annoying if I still have the pickaxe or axe when I "harvest" dairy products, and remove the cheese maker or whatever by accident, but at least it doesn't destroy them. xD
