Why is marrying Shane so unrewarding?
Despite having one of the better character developments in the game, he still loves beer post-rehab and is a slob with a dirty room if you marry him, its like the dev just went '' F**k you'' to those who wanted to date Shane...

HE DID CHANGE but the marriage doesn't connect to his development at all, he doesn't do the dishes, he stopped drinking but yet he still has empty beer cans all over. Not impressed, concerned ape did great work on this game but this is a new romance option and it was handled like this? I'm disappointed. :(

He wanted to better himself to he went to rehab for drinking and so he recognized the problem and wants to better himself. His addiction doesn't define him as a person, and I think that's why he chooses to go get help. Obviously, he might still be depressed but most people who are alcoholics avoid alcohol completely at least for some time if not for the rest of their lives.

You can be a recovering alcoholic while still also being a lazy slob.

You can also make Beer one of the things he hates, but nothing changes.

Maybe you are the reason he started drinking again.

...? You can still drink beer and not be an alcoholic. He can still drink a 6 pack and not be an alcoholic. It's when you drink to the point of blood poisoning or suicidal tendencies that it's a problem.

Also not sure what him being a slob has to do with anything. I'm depressed and my room's still cleaner than my peppy coworker's room.

He says he has "cut back" on his habit, but he never stops. I think it's that he's drinking recreationally instead of constantly as despite his messy habits he at least isn't passing out drunk on the floor in the farmhouse.

Shane's story isn't 'alcoholic burnout cleans up and reaches lost potential'. His story/marriage shows the constant battle of depression and the realities of alcohol as self-medication while striving to find satisfaction in the good things life has given him (the farmer, chickens, Jas, etc).

He's still a lazy broski who wants to watch the game with a beer, but at least he goes outside and holds that chicken sometimes is what I'm saying.

Man, people will defend anything.

Shane has a forever beer stained rug, his room has footprints, he won't do housework, its like a crappy relationship with a good for nothing guy that's not healthy for anyone, Shane is better than that, his marriage dialog isn't anything special either, talking about he will do the dishes eventually or whatever.

His room at Marnie's was cleaner, she probably cleaned his mess but he does work to change to be a better role model for Jas and better for the family and has a date with you and says this was thanks to you but once you marry him this is what you get, a slobby husband with not much nice to say and has a forever stained rug. This doesn't feel like improvement at all.

Shane was one of my favorite marriages because it's the most realistic. We're both slobs, we both eat pizza for breakfast. Tons of people have garbage on their desk or floor in their room, Shane's just messier than most.

This isn't that big of a deal, but if it is, there's a mod to fix it for you. Let me enjoy my filthy pig of a husband.

You're expecting that he'll change his ways just because you married him? Good thing there is divorce, which you should get.

Mods DON'T excuse it, there are even mods that make him dislike that you give him beer when hes trying to get rid of his addiction, why is that not implemented? I hope they fix it.

I get wanting to be a trash baby with ur hubby, that's fine and I wish you happiness<3
I'm not trying to stop your enjoyment with him, just voicing my displeasure with it.

but why is there spilled beer and footprints? It doesn't tell me this is a post-rehab man. I'm a trash baby myself but if I see footprints or spilled drinks in my room I clean them, have a six pack or two in the corner or empty cans on tables okay, but this is a bit much. This just doesn't fit with his character development, this feels like if you married him before his rehab and suicide attempt.

Seems to me like they did a good job making hik look real. You married a depressive alchoolic who works at the corner store and hate his job. Marying you won't make him less of a dump.

He's the kind of guy that will make you think he changed and tell you everything you want to hear but will eventually show his real self and get drunk and hit you. At this point you will be stuck in a relationship with someone you think love you but in reallity he really dosen't give a focke. You will then be miserable in this relationship for at least 5 years.

Congrats devs for making him the most real character.

Or pay 50.000 for a divorce the next day, that's a thing. We don't have to go that route man, its okay shh.
