That's for 1.3. At the very least the ones in the corners don't grow, I checked.
I need an updated screenshot.
I got 3~4 days in a row that my (only one planted) apple tree didn't grow, I did it on the top-right corner of the greenhouse, following the wiki 1.3 layout.
Now I gave that one up and i'm trying on the spot here [stardewvalleywiki.com] just above the plant vase on the bottom-right corner.
EDIT: It's growing fine.
I just used that wiki layout to plant pomegranate trees in my greenhouse. Next morning I got a message that "my pomegranate could not grow last night". Since fruit trees cannot grow with objects around them, and since decorations in the greenhouse are now considered "objects", I think that wiki image/article are out of date and should not be followed.
Probably you can still plant them beside the wall, but not beside decoration objects any more.
Update: the trees planted along the side walls are growing. The three trees planted in the middle of the north wall (near the water trough) are not growing. I didn't plant any trees along the south wall (for visibility).
That's what I figured. I might be wrong but I'm assuming the stuff in the north wall (as it is by default) are already considered "decorations", thus stopping trees from growing.
