Yeah... you can have multiple barns, but you can also have multiple sheds, and sheds are actually slightly smaller than barns, so you can actually fit in more sheds than you can barns. And the crop space you need to feed the jars/kegs in the sheds isn't really a disadvantage because barns require outdoor space for the pigs to eat grass and find truffles in. With 12 pigs in each barn you're going to need a LOT of grass space, unless you intend to just buy hay... And they still need at least 12 tiles of bare ground per barn to forage for truffles in even if you're feeding them exclusively with bought hay... I'd suspect 12 might not be enough either, because they'll end up having a traffic jam at the door and not all of the pigs will get outside. 18-24 would probably be safer.

Face it, there's no way a pig farm can compete with a winery/jam farm for profit.

Honestly, my farm layout isn't even optimized, because I insist on using space for paved walkways. I could be feeding another 3-4 sheds full of jars and kegs if I really wanted to.

Comparatively, even if I scrapped my crop fields, I'd only be able to get in a total of maybe 4-6 barns and still have my neat and tidy walkways. It'd never make as much money.

I'm not trying to knock pigs as a money-maker, nor am I trying to say that it's dumb to go with a pig-based build. But what I am saying is that they're not the optimal source of income, wine is. And they're not so big a money maker that you have to have barns if you don't want them.

So if your concept is for a farm with no animals, there's no reason to feel like you absolutely have to have a barn.

I use a farm mod on Nexus called Capitalist Dream Farm 2.

Yeah. I would use that one, except the author laid it out for optimal iridium sprinklers if you don't use Junimo huts, and the layout of the fields and such isn't really great if you do use them...

. When I finish the stage 4 plan, I should be able to create about 548 jellies every 2-3 days, which ranges from 210g for blueberry jelly to 1610g for Ancient Fruit jelly. .

You sound exactly like a Communist Dictator with the 4 year plan. You need to open it up to multi player so you can employ some serfs XD:steamhappy:

I like the hilltop one for the challenge, but late game it can be a pain if you want to nice, sophisticated set-up for many things because the space available on the map is just not very optimized and the layout makes it pretty impossible to make things look nice (at least for my tastes). Oh, and if you like to have a clean path to zip across from one end of your farm to the other, you'll hate this map. Also, planning for Junimo huts, tree/tapper farms, grazing areas of livestock and iridium sprinklers is not easy and you will have to make some sacrifices, either aesthetically or in the amount or variety that you can produce. It's definitely not the map you'd want if you think you'll do fish ponds and will want to make it look pretty. My advice for this map is whatever can be done inside the shed or greenhouse or your house, put those things there and keep your outdoor space free for things that have to be outside. The new upgrade for shed makes a few things easier--I now have three upgraded shed on the spot that spawns ores (the spawn rate is pretty low, and once you get enough cooper ore to built a couple of furnaces early on, it's kind of useless). I play this map mainly because I got bored with the original map.

The one with the monsters was fun for a short playthru, but it gets annoying after a while. The layout isn't good enough to justify a longer playthry, imo,

I like the woodland map but the layout of available tillable space is terrible. You'd think you'd get more but that damn lake is in the middle and makes things a mess.

I didn't enjoy the river map. Not enough usable land and the benefit of fishing at your farm isn't good enough to justify a long playthru on this map.

I haven't tried out the four corners map yet, but I will on my next playthru. I think after as few playthrus on the hilltop map I should do a playthru to make a pretty farm more than a profitable one.
