Secret Note #5
I'm in the process of completing the secret notes and #5 says the following:
"It's Penny's handwriting:
I want to get everyone something they love!

Mom: Parsnip, Glazed Yams, NO BEER!
Jas: Fairy Rose, Plum Pudding
Vincent: Pink Cake, Grape
Mr. Mullner: Leek, Fried Mushroom
Granny Mullner: Beet, Tulip"

Am I supposed to give these items to the corresponding people or is it just to tell us what certain characters like?

It's clues (well actually outright telling you) to what those characters love. If you give them one of those on their birthdays you'll get 3 x the social points for a loved gift. Info worth knowing!

It just tells you what they like. #10 and #13-25 are the ones where you do something.

since the last patch this info goes directly into the Townppl folders as well, so after you read this notes the folder what they love get automatic updated with this info.

I took it to be just hints or clues telling me what they like.

Do you mean the bits that show the hearts? Or is there somewhere else I don't know about? Nothing other that the picture of the character and the hearts is showing up where I'm looking.

in "the bit the showed the hearths" click on the villager heads.....
there you can find all you knowledge about each one what the love/like/dislike/hate, gathered from notes and from what you already gifted them.
