Is 34 "too old" to play this game?

age is subjective, for the most part any one can enjoy playing games, but that all depends on the person themselves.

i would ignore anyone who says "your to old to play a game".

It's a very relaxing game to me, where I can decide myself if I go spending another 300 hours with farming (while listening to podcasts!) or I wanna go for some adventures in the caves. It has some funny moments, some ... deep moments actually too and I am 100% sure you'll enjoy this game more than any 15yrs old, because in the end, you're already capable to fully understand the range of emotions the NPCs have, or those the game wants to envoke in you.

You have to make decisions in this game from time to time, and as usual: the decision you might like most as a player may not be always the best choice for everyone else. You can actually roleplay a bit there, or just play normally and make choices like you'd do in real life.

Some of the themes are fairly mature or nostalgic in a way that an older player might enjoy them. The game itself is kinda simple and empty-minded. If you're the kind of person that plays video games in the first place then you're probably the kind that would/could enjoy it anyway.

20-30 years ago, some might say that adults playing video games should be viewed negatively, but keep in mind that at one point in time reading books was viewed as unhealthy, unrealistic and a waste of time. Presently, I think that video games are nearing being appreciated as a mix of art, literature, and creative expression all three of which are ageless.

For myself, I'm 39 and I love how troubled the characters are. Ehile the mechanics certainly aren't realistic, the troubles of the villagers speak to a wide range of the human condition.

<3 i agree. i dont think its meant to be 100% realistic and a simulation so i dont think that is a negative thing.

i would stop playing games at maybe 19 or 20, you should probably be raising kids at 34. Maybe there is a loophole where you could play this game with your kids, that could work, but playing it for any other reason would just be a little sad.

Why would it be sad? Its a great waste of time because it is fun, and i dont have a job to attend to and i'm single so i don't see why its sad that i spend my free time when i dont have anything else to do playing a game. (its "sad" that i dont have a job or a wife, but i don't think that you were refering to stuff like that but im curious on why you chose the word "Sad")

The phrase "You're too old to be playing video games" are never valid to begin with. No games are too old to play but some games are too young to play like the ones that needs parental guidance.

Well i get called a "pedo" for playing cs when there are annoying kids playing in my team so Some people Do care about age. I had to ask because i dont want to randomly que up with someone on Stardew Valley that is like 10 years old and their parents hear that they play with an old guy. I just cant stand being called the worst thing an old gamer can be called because it hurts to be called that and im not really a snowflake, its just a hurtful thing to be called

<3 I was amazed to see how many normal kind comments there was in this thread and i was glad to see that i'm not as much of a rare breed that I initially thought.

You guys and girls has made me want to play this game even more! :D I just need to update the mod thingie so i can start a new game and not have to go back to the house all the time hehe

I ignore them all the time, but after like 10 years of hearing "youre old man, why do you play games? are you a neckbeard cellardweller" its easy to think "hm. is this ♥♥♥♥ im doing normal?" y'know? Thatys why i had to ask and i got a lot of kind loving comments here so i'll keep gaming until i Level Up to Age 90 :)

Keep in mind the NES came out 30 years ago.
It makes perfect sense for that generation of gamers to be around your age.

My son benefits from my collection, and I always know what he is playing, unlike other parents.
