Can I destroy houses of NPCs?
I don't like a few people that live there and I want to destroy their houses while they're sleeping. Is there a way to do that? If so, can I place a chair where their house used to be? I don't mean I want to cover the whole lot, but I just want to place one chair.

If Stardew Valley makes you that violently destructive, then I think maybe you should have a little talk with your guidance counselor.

Indeed, this isn't possible outside of any form of mod that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist.

The game is meant to be relaxing. If you dislike some characters, then befriend them more to get them to understand them more. But I agree with Clovis, I think you need some counselor 1 on 1 if you're feeling this destructive.

No you.

I appreciate your answer. The others here are just trolls. Like, why can't I play the way I want to? And they tell me how I have to play it?

who seems to be such a big probem that you want to leave them with nothing but a chair?

The same reason why you can't farm crops in Call of Duty, or play the rules of Go in Chess, Stardew Valley has ground rules. Without rules and a direction, there wouldn't be any games to play.

This is why people mod the living ♥♥♥♥ out of sandbox games where there is little rules and direction, because people subconsiously realise that sandbox games are actually not very fun to play as they are often just completely empty; note that by "sandbox", I am not talking about the actual sandbox games that have high scalability and flexibility for player expression/creativity, but rather games that just sell the game dev's laziness as a punchline. And even actual sandbox games have ground rules and a premise/scope, the same reasons why D&D still limits the players' action with stats and dice rolls (and soft limits on evil actions like blowing up NPCs because in doing so you're inviting to be attacked by other NPCs or your very own teammates), the same reasons why Stardew Valley doesn't allow you to kill NPCs.

Sandbox doesn't mean any and everything. It just means you get more flexibility.

Every game has a premise, a purpose, and ofc, a SCOPE. If you don't like a game's premise/direction even with its expanded scope then unfortunately, the game isn't for you. But it doesn't mean a game has to satisfy each and every niche possible simutaneously.

You misunderstood me. The chair would be for me.

I don't know what you're saying but if you disagree with me then you're ignorant. They took my money and now I can't do with it what I want???

This isn't a game for you if you are really this butt-hurt about it. Refund it if you want or give it to someone who actually wants the game.

The game is a sandbox, but like Crunchyroll said, it's not like Minecraft. You CAN mod the game, but there is no mod like Na Shagul said that would destroy houses. Why? Because no one wants a bugged/glitched game that will cause problems the instance someone enters/exits their own home that 'you' got rid of.

I'm am going to look past the comments prior to mine and answer your question...

There isn't a way currently to destory other people's houses. You can only destory your own farmbuildings (excluding your house). Nor is there a way to "kill" the NPC's, however you can shoot stuff at them with a slingshot. You can also put a bomb next to them if you want. Even if you do this though they won't be harmed, their heart level will be though. Basically, these methods are just if you're really bored/slightly sadistic. :brownchicken::cozyjunimogreen:

I'm not trying to spark a arguement, nor be rude. I just wanted to answer the question that he had. Please don't put me into the fray.

I can't refund it if I played more than 20 hours?

How am I a troll or a jerk? I didn't get mean or anything. And I appreciate people like Crunchyroll or Mr. Aqua Nerd for actually trying to help. Unlike you. You troll.

And thanks, Mr. Aqua Nerd. It doesn't solve my problem, but at least I can roleplay by placing bombs next to them or to their house.

I'm not sure you want to do this, but can you delete your game and start over?

You're right, that's not really something I want to do since I played 137 hours of this.
Also, that wouldn't help my problem of not liking certain characters.
But thank you for trying to help. :cozypoewitch:

I did answer your question by saying to befriend them more (In the beginning, no less), they become better than their 'ignorant' like selves in the beginning stages. But you took it wrong and thought I was a troll because you didn't like my answer.

And you can give away your game, it is possible. lol Just because you can't refund doesn't mean you can't give it away (stating as an option).

We thought you would need help if you're this angry with them. It's not meant to be giving you THIS much anger towards the NPCs.

I even agreed with Na Shagul earlier and you still think I'm a troll? Good grief. Play as you want, but you won't find much in the modding community unless you create it yourself. I don't really care how someone else plays their game. As it doesn't affect me in any way possible. But if you really can't take what I say without calling me a troll, then whatever kid.
