How can I change my player name?

As in, how do I edit my SDV file in my SDV folder?

I'm assuming you're using PC, and there's a mod that will let you do it! Just be careful to not exceed the character limit, it will make your game crash until you change it back.

Indeed, I am a PC player. However, it's too hard for me install Smapi, so is there an alternative meld that doesn't use mods?

I could probably find a way for you to edit the save file directly, but it would risk messing something else up on accident. If you still want to go this route, I need to know if you're on mac or windows or linux. I'm also willing you give you steps to install SMAPI that's a lot easier to follow than what they give you on the site

do you happen to have a program that will make it easier to find specific words such as Notepad++? if so, then it is fairly easy to edit small things such as player name and farm name.

I think I have some version of Notepad on my computer, I just don't use it that much so I'm uncertain.

Find your AppData folder (Should be this: %AppData%\StardewValley\Saves\), the go into the StardewValley-Saves folder.
Find the save games folder you want to edit and go into both the files, Ctrl+F your name and change it, there should be 1 instance of your farmers name to change.
Once you've done it with both files, rename the folders themselves (keep the numbers on them, just change the actual name.
