Friendship Points at Festivals
So... Everything I've read and search says talking to villagers at general festivals like the Moonlight Jelly thingy does not give friendship points. But I for-sure-ly just got friendship points from talking to them... Like I got the Cliques achievement. So does it award friendship points or does it just count as your talking to them for the day?

there used to be a bug were talking with people on festivals rewarded no points, but that was fixed. you get points for talking with people. also depending on event/action additional ones, more read here: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Friendship#Festivals

Woo, thanks for that. I haven't bothered to speak to the town during festivals for ages. Will start again now.

Thanks for the link, dubesor, but I'm still not sure about this one. The link you provided mentions three festivals where there is the possibility to raise hearts with villagers, but, unless I missed it, doesn't mention being able to raise hearts with villagers simply by chatting with them at any of the festivals. Like Turtleswatter said, I haven't bothered to talk to anyone at festivals for a long time, but I'd love to see evidence that doing so would help build relationships. Did I miss something in the article?

I don't know if it was a "bug" or not before but the recent 1.4 update changed it so that event talking now gives friendship.

There were a lot of changes in 1.4 so I'd double check any googling you do against those patch notes for a few weeks while stuff gets updated (thinking of the wiki in particular).

Cheers!

Very cool. I am guilty of not having read through all of the patch notes, so thanks for setting me straight here. It will be nice to be able to take advantage of all the villagers being gathered together at the same time. Thanks for the info everybody.

it does though, it's literally the first sentence:
You earn friendship points for speaking to villagers at Festivals, the same as any non-festival day.

also 1.4 patchnotes: "You can now increase friendship by talking with NPCs at festivals."

Also note, if the particular festival is the Luau, supplying a good ingredient increases your relationship with everyone.
