Also, the perk of it is pretty weak, as it is not all that hard to get to an area to mine in.
Additionally the riverlands farm isn't too viable for fishing-focused players either, as you can only catch town fish here, and with a significantly increased chance to catch trash instead as well.
If you want a significantly less brutal(not to mention more beautiful) map that still requires more planning and effort than vanilla, I'd recommend checking out the hill-top and wilderness farms instead.
Hill-top has significantly more usable space overall(though still a little over half the actual tillable farmspace of the vanilla map), but it doesn't have nearly as many large, open plots for farming, and has several cliffs and a large winding river that help break up your farming area even more, without being nearly as overboard as riverlands. It also happens to be my favourite map aesthetically, so there's that.
Once again the map is supposedly useful for mining-oriented players, but sadly the included mini-quarry on the farm is frankly pretty useless. Similar to the full-sized quarry, the spawns are so infrequent and of so low value that it's really not worth your time to "farm" it.
The wilderness farm features about 1000 less grids of usable farm space than the vanilla farm, is cut into by two rather large lakes(which can be fished in for mountain fish), and spawns forest golems at night, which are monsters that are actually rather useful to grind for combat EXP. They also drop coal, diamonds, earth crystals, and plant fibre, making them a surprisingly useful mob to farm for drops as well.
Honestly if you're looking for anything more challenging than minor inconveniences in usable space, you're pretty much SOL unless you specifically disallow yourself to use extremely valuable crops like strawberries and starfruits.
Though honestly, none of them are notably harder than others, for normal gameplay, in my opinion.
