How do people reach hundreds hours of playtime?
I'm still very new to Stardew Valley, only played around 5 hours, but I've always been curious how do people reach hundreds hours of playtime? Is there so much content?Grind?Replayability? What's the "secret" to this?

I'll play just another 5 more minutes.

BOOM! 70 hours has passed.
there is a steam bug that still exist, you start the game twice then you get double playtime 1 min you get 2min playtime, most user dont close the game just minimizing it and this count still as playtime

I'd say about 95% of my current play time has been focused around one farm and I can honestly say it's mostly due to making it perfect and being a money factory, completing everything, reaching max relationships with everyone. There's a lot more content than people give it credit for, and also what Kodi said, time just flies when you're playing it.

I play with a friend. We have different tasks, and get on with them.

Well... i do crazy stuff like decide to stop growing things and just have 100's of beehives and she cleans up after me and takes care of the animals...

I've just finished my crazy "Must grow acres of coffee beans and turn it all into coffee" spree

forgetting to catch a season specific fish or make a crop and having to do it again next year adds up

The people saying "oh they just idle" are kinda just stupid. Yeah, some people will just idle to rank up the hours but theres A LOT to do in Stardew then what just meets the eye. Doubled on to the fact that theres different farm layouts to playthough at stuff yknow?

You're only about 5 hours in which I won't even consider fully starting yet (not like I've got many hours into the game either yet, Im still new lol) but trust me, theres a lot of cool ♥♥♥♥ to uncover and explore/things to do that will take up a lot of time resulting in a lot of playtime.

My first run took me 75 hours and I stopped just the day after the "scoring" at the end of year 2 (at release) and I was very focused on the mines and farm side, very little on the social side.
Then played another game a few months after, then another at the 1.3 release.

It goes up quickly and your time disappears as fast.

Ah, math. Let's say that doing a playthrough takes you to the end of year 2. That's 8 seasons total. There are 28 days to a season. Doing the math, that's 224 days in the playthrough. I don't remember exactly how long the days last, but I know it's close to 15 minutes, so for the sake of easy math, I'll just say that each day is 15 minutes long (which factoring in pausing, going through menus, etc. 15 minutes might not be too far off anyways). So that gives the playtime of 3,360 minutes or 56 hours. You may try playing the game well past the end of year 2, or you may try going through multiple farms. The time adds up.
