If you mean like bring things over from their game over to yours then no, everyone comes into your game empty handed and when they leave everything they collected is deposited in a chest. The point of co op is just that, to play cooperatively with friends. There's no "benefit" than that over a regular single player game.
Whoever hosts the game "owns" the farm, and the other 1-3 players are your farmhands. You can play the file without them, but they can't play without you. You can't visit other people's farms, you can only play on your farm. You all share a wallet, but have separate tool and backpack upgrades, along with different skills and professions. (For example, one of you can take the crab pot skill tree to make tons of cheap crab pots, and the other can take the fishing sell price increase, and you'll both benefit from sharing.)
My boyfriend usually waters the crops and goes mining to collect goodies to sell, whilst I tend to the barn animals and go fishing.
