Dating Bachelors (Spoilers)?
In my first playthrough I married Alex and was quite satisfied with the amount of romance going on and now in my second playthrough I wanted to marry Shane, however, I don't feel any romance going on? Besides a very short kiss and long kiss/hug there is literally no romance between the character and Shane? Why would you even propose to him then? I kinda forgot what comes next, after the ten heart event, but I think except the final date before marriage there is nothing else.

Is this the case with other characters, too? Do you basically get to know them, but without romance involved? However, I did notice that there were some sparks between Emily and the character in her very first heart event, so I don't know...

Off the top of my head:

Alex: You start by being friends, then he opens up to you, then he develops feelings for you. Alex is more of a "trophy husband".

Shane: He tells you how sad he feels, you see how his bad decisions affect his family, he has a major depressive episode which you help him out of, then he starts doing better and thanks you for the help, then when he's finally through the worst of his problems he invites you to hang out, and kisses you while he's celebrating, and the romance continues from there. Shane is more like getting married to your best friend.

Sam: Sam starts out with several immature cutscenes, you watch him develop his passion, then he thanks you in his bedroom and things... go from there. Sam is more like a "young love", he's immature but willing to put in the work to make things work.

Haley: She starts off being petty and snobbish, then you help her by displaying your strength, then you help her find something important to her, and she shows her softer side, then she displays active interest in learning about nature and is willing to get dirty with you, then she lets you into her private room and shows off her passion to you.

Shane and Emily were not originally "singles". They were originally just "villagers" and were upgraded to "singles" after release. As a result, their cut scenes tend to be more neutral. (Or ... sometimes even disjointed).

The other "singles" who were planned as such from the beginning tend to have more romance involved in their progression.

In fact, the cutscenes involving Clint have you helping him attempt to start dating Emily, regardless of whether or not you've already married her.

Some interesting thoughts you have there, thank you for sharing!
