Bug: couldn't fish during the festival of ice.

I started the festival, and I couldn't cast my rod. I pressed every button severl times and it wouldn't make my character cast. All I could do is walk around. So I lost a competition that I wasn't allowed to participate in, joy.

And yes, I already had a rod, and a fishing skill above 5.

You talked to Lewis, right? The competition doesn't start until you talk to him. You also don't need to bring your own rod anyway, you're given one just for the contest.

Yes, I talked to Lewis. The countdown started and everything. Willis won btw.

If it matters, I'm playing with a controller, though hitting every button on the keyboard didn't do anything either. Literally all I could do during the competition was walk around. That's it.

I randomly lost the ability to fish completely. I had even gotten the advanced rod and was pretty high up at the fishing skills bar. It worked fine for a couple months, both with the x key on my keyboard and also with mouse click, and then suddenly stopped working. I even started a new game to see if it would be working again, but nope....

I can still fish. Though I have noticed for a while now that squid never appear in the ocean. And yes, I know you have to fish in the ocean at night to get them. For some reason all I get when I do that is herring, anchovy, and sometimes albacore or halibut.

Getting the same festival issue on my side. Re-started the day and still nothing xD

When entering the Ice Fishing contest in Y1, all characters reset back to previous dialogue options and I cannot fish at all. Verified game files, reset the day, tested fishing beforehand (which was fine) but could not fish in the event at all.

I was able to start the event, but I couldn't throw my rod out, no matter what button I pressed. I also didn't have my inventory so I could select a rod. Is your inventory supposed to dissappear when you start the event? And by 'disappear', I mean the inventory bar wasn't visible. Or any of my HUD in fact.

Yes, the events often lock out your inventory and menus, but any actions the event requires you to take should be built into the event itself.

Yes, the events often lock out your inventory and menus, but any actions the event requires you to take should be built into the event itself.

Yeah, you don't use your own rod even if you do bring it. Just walk up to one of the water holes and press/click the same button you'd normally use when using your own rod.

Just an update, re-installing didn't work, so possibly a problem with the game state on the save files? :/ No idea how to even start fixing that...but I'm not playing again until I can do this event!

I was going to ask if you tried again recently, but I see your last post was 4 hours ago. I had the same problem on my current save year 1 as well, but then year 2 it worked fine.

The only possible difference for me was I'm running smapi and mods. Are you just running the vanilla version?

Aye, just vanilla. *sigh* I might just give up and try again in Year 2... I just hate letting the event run through without doing it xD

yeah no fishing rod here either, had issues at the fair, now I have issues in the ice festival, luckily the fishing aspect of the game is so droll anyway imo lol
