Help with "Better fruit trees" mod

Sorry, I'm just struggling a bit with the mod, it says that we can edit it to allow the planting of fruit trees outside of the farm. It says to edit the "config.json" file in the mod folder, however, I do not have that file. Is there anything I can do?

I don't know this mod, but are you supposed to be changing the file name so that it replaces an existing game file?

I don't believe so, it just says to change the one value to true.

But I'm now wonderinf if I even have the launch options set up right. Do you run mods on windows?

I checked out the mod on Nexus. Did you run the mod through SMAPI?

I'm trying to, but I'm struggling to get it set up. I tried putting "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley\StardewModdingAPI.exe" in the launch options, but it's acting like the mod isn't even installed.

I also tried clicking on the SMAPI app itself, but it says the game needs updating, but I'm running the latest version (I think?)

So did some digging and downloading. With my version of SMAPI I got this error:

[SMAPI] Found 1 mod with warnings:
[SMAPI] Skipped mods
[SMAPI] --------------------------------------------------
[SMAPI] These mods could not be added to your game.

[SMAPI] - Better Fruit Trees 1.1 because it's no longer compatible. Please check for a new version at https://smapi.io/compat.

SO I updated to the newest version of SMAPI and got the same error you did.
Also, checking the Posts section on Nexus, this mod has been broken for a while. Sorry :(
