Pigs the best money makers ?
I been playing stardew valley for years and i started to think of using pigs. Right now i am a wine ancient fruit kind of guy eith starfruit in the green house.

But doing the math - if i have a pig farm 1 truffle a day and i have the forage perks - i would be making 1640 per truffle a day. That's more than what i make in wine.

I am thinking about switching to 3 or 4 fully upgraded barns of pigs to harvest truffles. Rather than wait 7 days for wine.

Am i right to think this way ?

Pigs are a great way of earning money and certainly you can earn a lot selling truffles, however even without the artisan perk it's best to sell only iridium quality truffles as up to gold star they cost less than truffle oil. Make enough oil makers to make all the truffles into oil and just watch the cash come in in between wine sales and you are pretty much set with way more cash than you could think of how to spend.

EDIT: Here is a good source of information on the Stardew Valley wiki for when to process stuff and when it's not profitable to do so:

Do remember this means no income in Winter, on rainy days, & some night time gathering since day time they'll be finding them. Still it is a great way to make money.

To be frank I'd not base my in-game income solely on pigs, as it was stated no cash flow in winter, I am however making wine and jelly for sale plus cheese and goat cheese so I have a steady cash flow. No matter how small it might be with some of the larger farms(using the riverlands farm personally and am planning on getting a second barn just need to find a spot for it xD ) and am slowly getting more and more ancient fruit in the greenhouse and am growing some sweet gem berries there as well using the lower quality ones to make some seeds(not economic but still gives a decent income once a month).

Based on my experience, I was able to put about 4 deluxe barns in 500 plots. If you go with the assumption, 24 barns can be placed in a vanilla farm.

Assumption

Pigs: 4 deluxe barns in 500 plots, one pig will dig up two truffles per a day, have botanic perk, and 3 raining days per a season.
Ancient wine: 2,800 ancient seeds planted, 9 harvests per a year, have artisan perk

Pigs: 54,000,000. 1,250g * 25 days * 3 seasons * 24 barns (3,000 plots / 500 plots * 4 deluxe barns) * 12 pigs * 2 truffles
Ancient wine: 58,212,000. 2,310g * 2,800 plots * 9 harvests

Both are pretty comparable based on the assumption. But, if you go with pig route, you have to pick up close to 600 truffles per a day. I can manage 2,800 ancient fruits pretty comfortably, but picking up 600 truffles daily would be a nightmare.

Well i did river barn and made lots of wine with ancient fruit. I also use starfruit sometimes in the summer to help out.

The reason i want to go pigs is because i want to buy everything and just mess around with end game stuff.

Also i want to do standard farm and make wine / pigs for my next game. Thanks guys for everything this is great.

Thanks for all the advice. I don't mind picking up 600 truffles everyday haha. I might get bored when i buy everything there is to buy.

What got me curious was a truffle iriduim quality is 1260 i think ? (need to check wiki) and wine takes 7 days to come out at 3000.

I am trying to make fast money per day rather than decent money per week with low to no work.

I don't mind working and playing i just want to be rich haha :)

Thanks again you guys. Have a good one and be well - love love <3
