How to drop items in multiplayer?

I know you're able to throw stuff away in the trash can and toss things out of your inventory by moving them to the side and clicking off, but is there any hotkey or something that can be used to drop items easily? I always find myself trying to drop an item for my friends and after throwing it out of my inventory I'd have to run away so the item doesn't chase me and go back to my inventory lol.

Nope. You could just drop in a nearby chest. That's what I do anyways.

Yeah that's what I've resorted to doing with things like tools that you can't drop. Its very tedious and I hope something is added like a hotkey (Q perhaps) to quickly drop items and not have them fly back into your inventory...

You could gift the item to the other player. Just offer it to them like you would to a NPC
