Can't donate or craft ancient seed artefact.

I have an ancient seed artefact in my inventory. I don't remember whether or not |I've already donated one to Gunther or not, but if I go to the museum now, he says I have nothing to donate and there are no rewards to collect. I think this should mean that I've already donated one, and received plantable seeds plus the recipe to craft them. I can't find the seeds, and don't remember growing them, but it's possible I did so before I realised how rare they were. Anyway, I can't craft seeds from the artefact. (it isn't even listed in my crafting menu as a possibility) What am I missing?

Check in your crafting menu. If you completed the donation to Gunther, then you should have the crafting recipe to turn artifacts into seed packets.

Thanks Nakos. As mentioned in the post, it isn't available as an option anywhere in my crafting menu. I've specifically looked through all the options in there. I've also looked over the items in the museum, and the ancient seed is there, so I definitely donated it at some point. I can't figure out why I don't have it available in my crafting menu.

Are you looking for an icon like this: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Ancient_Seeds It should be highlighted available if the seed is in your inventory.

Susan mentioned a post above that it's in the museum, so according to them it is.

did you redeem your gifts from him after you donated the first Ancient Seed? He gives you 1 seed pack and the blueprint to craft the seed as a reward.

I'm afraid I don't remember. I did collect other rewards from early museum donations, but I'm starting to think that somehow I missed this one. If that's the case, do you know if there's anything I can do? There are no current rewards to collect, so it isn't still at the museum waiting for me either.

I didn't know what the icon looked like, but I went through every icon in my crafting menu, just to check, and it simply isn't there.

I've started to put everything through the seed maker, in the hopes of acquiring some of the seeds that way. Thanks to all of you for your replies - I was sort of hoping that this would be a known glitch with an easy fix, but it seems not. I'll be glaring at Gunther the next time I donate something :P

I don't have the game loaded right now, but it says the quote about it being ancient and probably dead, not the one about "Gunther can tell you more if you donate this to the museum"

I don't really know what happened with your file, but its single player, if you want something, add it in.

that said yeah its roughly 5 seeds per 1000 fruit processed in seed makers. Blueberries are what I used.

It's Fall for me now, so I think cranberries are going to be my seedmaker crop for now ;) But I do have a greenhouse, so I could plant up some blueberries. Ah, there's no rush - it was just because I recently read about being able to craft ancient seeds from the Ancient Seed artefact, and realised that I couldn't.
