Forest to the right of black smiths ?

new to the game there is a minecart outside blacksmiths house that leads to a forest is this a special event forest or one I will be able to go in whenever I want Im hoping the 2nd option also man this game is awesome

I'm not 100% sure about the forest as I haven't really explored over there very much, but you can work through some quests (I believe it's part of the quests to repair the Community Centre) to repair the bridge that leads to the Quarry next to the Adventurer's Guild by the mines. The Quarry has plenty of stones and wood that you can use to build things for your farm etc. :)

Minecarts are a transportation option, once you repair them either through completing the Boiler Room at the Community Center or buying it from Joja. The destinations are at the Bus Stop, in the Mines, and in Town (which would be next to Clint's). There is also a stop at the Quarry, once you unlock that area through a different set of bundles.

ah so i take it you cant actually enter those woods that dissapointing but thanks

Yeah, all the unlocked areas are through the CC/Joja. And we'll see what happens whenever the MP mod comes and whatever new content comes with it.

Edit: Well, there is a small hidden grotto behind the fallen log in the top left of the forest. You need an upgraded axe to chop fallen logs though.
