how to get most iron

I've unlocked desert but I need to get a good supply of iron to make sprinklers and bombs but I only get like 20-25 a day from level 40-60 of mines

I go to 40th floor, go down to 41th, mine ores, go down if you found a ladder, or go back up and repeat the process again. I can easily mine 100+ iron ores per a day with that method.

All you can do is either keep doing that or buy the ore from Clint

There is iron down to lvl 80 in the mines. Maybe the iron is more plentiful in the deeper lvls of the mine (not sure though).
You can also go to the Quarry for some easy and fast iron to grab or turn 3 Copper-Bars into 1 Iron-Bar.

hm I don't have much copper either and quarry is cleared and takes ages to return. guess I'll have to do this

If you are doing that, you should get more than 20-30 per a day. i just got 50 copper, 120 iron and 20 gold ores in average lucky day after heading to mine at 10am. I do have +1 ore perk, but even if not, you should get more than 20-30

You see certain levels say Abundant resources on certain levels. These are the ones you want to farm in general. For iron ore it is 71-79 but your best bet is to elevator to 75 clear, stairs up, and then back down to 75 and clear. This should give you the most output for iron ore.

Abundant is a silly way of doing things, yes iron ore is more common on the 70-79 floors, but the floor structure is important

I mean doing floor 41 over and over I usually get 150 iron before noon. (use miner perk at level 5 for +1 ore per node)

I think Abundant just give like an increase spawn chance or something.

Ok then go down to the next floor then go up. The point was not to go down floor by floor. Just go to the first floor in those 5 floors then go back up and rehit that floor. If it is 76 then go down to 75 hit 76 clear then redo. it is faster then ladder hunting every floor.

I used to do that, but 60-61 IS better for iron, and also gets you some diamonds.

I assume you mean there is no auto spawned ladder. There would have to spawn a ladder somewhere on the floor by breaking rocks or the like?

Actually it might be fast to have a ladder spawned in already but the process described works ether way and since the 71-79 floors are tagged with the Abundant that means each time you spawn the floor in it could spawn a crap ton of ore. So I would stick to 70-71 or 75-76. You can science it though. make sure the days you do it have the same luck value. Do 60-61 one day and then 70-71 the next. See which one spawns more. Ether floor it is still the best way to get the iron ore.

How to get the most iron?

Buy the iron ore from Clint, then smelt it into iron bars with your own furnaces.

Clint also has copious amounts of copper ore, coal and gold ore, and I buy all of these from him, too.

And for my stone and wood needs, I go see Robin.

I simply do not have time to be schlepping my farmer ass down into the mines for ores when they are so readily available from my friendly local blacksmith.

Same with tear-assing around the countryside digging up boulders and chopping down trees.

There are fair maidens aplenty to court, and my time is better spent doing that.

If you are worried about the cost, here are some numbers --

To make a keg using purchased materials -- 1725 gold. (You have to provide the oak resin yourself because no one sells it.)

Preserves jar -- 2500

Bee House -- 2500 (Bring your own maple syrup)

Crappy Sprinkler -- 1425

Quality Sprinkler -- 3050 (You provide the refined quartz. Go to the mine and get one, the put it in a crystallarium, which you can get by completing one of the Vault bundles.)

Copper bar (5 copper plus 1 coal) -- 525

Iron bar (5 iron plus one coal) -- 900

Gold bar (5 gold plus one coal) -- 2150

All very reasonable.

Now if only I could find a place to buy hardwood and iridium ore.

^Buying all your resources in year 1 is the kind of thing you do when you're using mods (or if you've named yourself after a prism shard).

I did not know there was a Transmute Gold crafting ability. Had to go look it up.

Now I need to go squeeze out a couple more Mining levels so I can get it.

I did, however, finally figure out how to build Staircases and warp my way down to the levels where the good stuff is, which makes the quest for ore much easier.
