What is the best coop animal in terms of profit?
I've seen a lot of conflicting information about this, so just on a gpd basis which coop animals are most valuable?

Void Chickens for Void Mayo. If you unlock the Sewers you can buy your first void egg.

Really? Just off of looking in on the wiki, getting normal chickens up to hearts for the gold mayonaise is worth more than the void mayonaise. Could you elaborate?

Void mayo is not very profitable. TBH none of the animals are really worth going all out on, I'd take a variety for the sake of completion but focus on crops.

I couldn't tell you which specifically is the most profitable, but I'd lean towards ducks.

As much as I love chickens the coop in general falls very flat in terms of profitability later in the game when you can start getting truffles and other artisan goods. I ended up selling my coop to make room for other things. To answer your question though, it would be baseline chickens. Duck mayo is worth more yes but in one week you'll make more from 12 chickens, most of which making gold star mayo if at max affection, than you would with 12 ducks. Their feathers don't drop enough to offset the lack of eggs every day.

Same with rabbits, rabbit feet are ok to sell and as gifts but they drop very infrequently and the wool is just as bad in terms of continuous profit.

Forget the Coop, save money for a Barn and buy lots of pigs. Then get your Foraging skill maxed, choosing the Gatherer perk (chance for double harvest) and then choosing the Botanist perk (foraged items are always highest quality). You will get your money's worth in no time and it's almost effortless.

Ok I'll try to cover everyones comments on this. As Red pointed out you can, with the help of RNG and luck, find a Void Egg on the Traveling Marchant so if that happens By all means get that. Also she very commonly sells eggs for cheaper then buying chickens or ducks so buy those if you want those.

Ducks only produce every 2 days. so every 2 days you can make 399 from Duck Mayo or 770 from Void Mayo. This assumes you go with the Art bonus over animals. Ether way you will still make more off Void Chickens.

Dinos require finding dino egg first which will be way worse RNG then looking for a Void egg of the Traveling Merchant. At which point you Releaze that they only produce every 7 days. That is Max level Dino egg wil bring you 700 or 2695 from Void Mayo.

Pigs...rofl...rofl...pigs sucks. you will make more from them the anyother coop animal how ever you are require to wait all day for that and you have to run around all day and pick up after them. And the OP asked about coop animals. However for Barn animals I like Sheep the Best. You can reduce the time it take to grow the wool down to every day and make cloth with silver and reg wool for the most profit from sheep. I also find sheep the least annoying of the Barn Animals so there is that.

Edited: In case you want to roll the dice on Large Eggs. "Large Eggs and Milk
For animals to produce a Large product, the game will take Mood and Friendship into account.

Only animals with 200 or higher friendship can produce Large products.

Each animal will have an overall score created with the following formula: (Friendship + Mood Modifier)/1200

For example, an animal with 600 Friendship (3 Hearts) and 210 Mood would be calculated as:

=((600 + (210*1.5))/1200

=(600+315)/1200

=0.7625

Each time a product is rolled, a number between 0-1 is chosen randomly. If the overall score is higher than the random number, a Large product will be created. In our example there is a 76% chance of a large product. An overall score of at least 1200 will guarantee a Large product." However you will only ever make 14 or so more with Large aggs over Void and you will not get them every day.

This may be completely unrelated to your question in particular, but if your looking for doing some animal farming, then go for a barn and buy pigs.

Even with 6 pigs, you can make 1.2 million a year just by selling their truffles (provided you have them at 4 out of 5 hearts at the least and you have the artisan, gatherer and botanist profession which are by far the best skills in my opinion)

Is this a joke? Literally a week just to lay a product that worth 350-700G. Dinosaurs are purely just for fun.

The fact that ducks DO DROP feathers is, currently, the major reason ducks under-perform in terms of profit, comparing them to chickens. When ducks drop feathers (which are WAY less profitable than their Mayonnaise) they DO NOT lay an egg in that day, it means no Mayonnaise from that respective duck on that day.

As I stated previously, Ducks suck in terms of profit, when you compare them to chickens.

Answering the topic (made several months ago), as some other guys have already said, chickens once you max their fs or void ones for early game. I'm assuming that you really like Coop animals. If I'm wrong on that, stick to Barns (just another word for...Pigs). If you really want to stick to animals, Pigs overshadow the other animals ridiculously hard (they are pretty expensive though), and are overshadowed by starfruits and ancient fruits as well. Just to show how this game is so unbalanced.

Plot twist: it doesn't matter which one is the most profitable, you'll get tired of bobbing and weaving through your chickens to manually snatch up the eggs after week 3.

Honestly I keep a coop full of blue chickens because of appearance and I like their clucking.

Ducks are a pain, they take forever to drop a feather (Going for the feather for the bundle), and eggs are every other day too.

I do like the void chickens, I often go for two, one as soon as I can, and the other a little later. Might choose to go for three on this save. They're so cute.

But even baseline chickens are decent profit, and you can easily make food from their eggs.
