Does it make any difference if you sell goods to Pierre?

I rarely sell anything to Pierre unless I need some cash on that day, since the money he pays is the same as if you sell through placing them in the container at the farm. Would selling goods to Pierre help his business and perhaps lead to him having more goods to sell you at some point?

Doesn't really make any difference. Selling to Pierre just gives you money now instead of waiting. If you sell some stuff to Pierre, it has a chance of being put up for sale in his shop if edible and you might get some dialogue from the villagers about buying or seeing the items.

Thanks, its what I thought too. Pierre only buys edible items anyway, other things you have to go to Robin or Clint to sell. I did sell some food items to Pierre before, but have not yet seen it appear on sale or dialogue from other villagers.

I know its the same amount of money, I was just wondering if it has other effects if you keep selling to Pierre. He said one time that if you sell to him he resells at a profit. He also regularly says he sometimes has extra stock on some days, but I never seen his shop stock change except seeds for the current season, so I wondered if its because I rarely ever sell him anything.

He will re-sell some of the good you sell him, but he does tack on a small honorarium for his time and trouble.

I sold him some starfruit wine for 3150 gold, and he marked it up to 5000 and put it in his inventory.

Interesting, I never saw anything I sold him appear in his stock. I assumed whatever you sell him the items just vanish after the transaction.
