As for storyline, generally speaking, the Community Center bundles are what unlock things and allow you to progress further.
That's basically your long-term goal, to complete those bundles.

However, overall, just do what you want.
Raise crops, raise livestock, go fishing, go mining, socialize, explore and forage for items. Whatever you want.

To give you a sort of starting point, you can collect berries and such in the forest and mountain, and sell those for some quick money.
When you're ready, go to town, to the General Store, and buy some seeds to plant and grow.

It's also a good idea to chop some wood (about 50 of them). With that, you can Craft a chest to store things. As well as craft a few other things.

After a few days, the mines will be opened. One goal will be to reach the bottom of the mines. But that will take some time until that goal.

Have you ever played a farming game, perhaps like Harvest Moon? Cause if you've at least played Harvest Moon, then you should have some idea of what the game play is like, you grow seeds, raise livestock and poultry, woo people and give them gfts (form friendships with villagers in general and marry/date the potential spouses), fish, and mine, and basically build up your farm. That's all. Look at the Stardew Valley guide for some tips and stuff. Set yourself some goals and whatnot. You'll soon see what this game is all about.
