The Chatbox is horrible
Sorry about being rude and making something of a rant but I am atm ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Why is there a chatbox in the corner that overlaps the toolbar? I was in the mines on a new save and had to heal pretty fast, but guess what? A chat box showed up and blocked movement and my ability to pick my healing items so I lost 10 levels and everything I gone to the mines for in the first place. I lost quite a lot of progress just because a chatbox that I wasn't able to see showed up while selecting items.

How does one remove this horrible chatbox?

If you are playing the game on a resoloution small enough to block your hotbar with the chat box, may I suggest using the Zoom scaling feature to zoom out the UI ? You can find it in the options.

I don't know how to remove the chatbox, but you could alternatively hit the number keys to select an item/tool.

Or click on the inventory (on the right side away from the chatbox) and use your the scroll button on your mouse to get to another item/tool. The mouse scroll skils unused spots, so will just scroll through items/tools.

Using 1, 2, 3 above Q, W, E will probably be faster though. Since your left hand will be on WASD for movement.

I hate this ting. A lot of the time when I want to select a weaon, I click and then it might be the chat-box instead and I die.

I have no idea what you call "small enough resolution" when I use 1920x1080 window borderless. The problem is that if you go to the buttom of the screan and click you get the chatbox to open. The chatbox can be open all the way to item slot number 5. The chat box should NEVER open unless you press a key on the keyboard for this reason.

Well it is in SP so I do not really know why it doesn't exist with only a button press. Auto open shoudln't be a thing.

Except, you know, multiplayer isn't out yet. If you're opting into the beta, you know there will be issues.

I do know. I couldn't feel less stupid. Every beta or early access will always have issues, I'm not opt into beta, lol

I hope you are aware that hating popular things doesn’t make you cool.

I hope you are aware I didn't said anything about "I hate" this and that.

I'm extremely confused about what OP is describing. Do you mean the chatbox, like, for talking to other players? Because if so, I think you hit T to bring that up - is there some on-screen button you're accidentally clicking to open it? Are you hitting T instead of 5? I don't get what you mean by the chatbox getting you killed. You can just hit Enter or Escape to close it, I think?

That's what I'm wondering, I kept hitting T, a real nuisance. But then I switched it to enter. I don't think Enter closes, but I know Escape does.

Hmm. Well, I know Enter sends the message, and my chat box usually closes after I hit Enter... except sometimes it doesn't... I dunno how Enter would work if you didn't type anything.

I'd love for the chat box to be like... only visible when you open the chat box, otherwise the words will just float in space for like 8-10 seconds, then vanish - but can be viewed again by opening the chat box. That's how it is in several games I play. The current chat box is huge and in the way of my bar, but it's never gotten me killed.

Another good addition would be a radial menu like some FPS games have, like say we hold down the H key then move the mouse and click a response. So within 2 seconds, you could say "On my way!" or "Heading to the mines" or some other common phrases. Either give us 2 menus with locations/phrases, or let us favorite some phrases to say. That'd be really useful.

I'm assuming it's not possible yet but ConcernedApe should consider allowing players to move the chat box to whatever postilion ᵗʰᵉⁿ ˢᵒᵐᵉᵒⁿᵉ ˢᵃʸˢ "ᵗʰᵉʳᵉ'ˢ ᵃ ᵐᵒᵈ ᶠᵒʳ ᵗʰᵃᵗ"

The issue I have is when I Alt+Tab, the chatbox gets stuck and I can't do anything else besides type. The solution I found is a bit random, but keep alt-tabbing or hit T and it stops reappearing. Its very random. :steamfacepalm:
