does it matter where you place your lightning rods?
i always had them all over my farm, now i placed them next to each other and it looks like less of them got hit by lighting.

but the wiki says it doesn't matter how you place them.. how is it really?

ah okay, thanks. is there a maximum amount of battery packs you can get from a storm?

Not a strict limit that I know of, but 12 lightning rods have served me well, but others have reported getting more lightning strikes. I think between 15-20 is the best range on average.

That said, I'd also recommend doubling that in case you get back-to-back storms.

I think it's random. If you're bored, watch this about an entire farm with lightning rods. I suggest skipping to 6:25

We had 10 on our farm, but some strikes still got through. Upped it to 15 and only seen a couple get through. I'd go with 15-20.

Place them ontop of wild grass (fodder) to make a growing feeder plot. Rinse and Repeat every Spring, the rods prevent your animals from eating the last of your grass.

That's actually a brilliant tip I hadn't thought of.

You can do it with hardwood fences too but destroying a hardwood fence will not give your fence in return.

i do not have the animals in a enclosed area. so most of the time not all the grass get's eaten. idk why you would put the animals behind a fence other than that they're a bit annoying sometimes.

Mostly it's for pigs. Lowers the area you need to search for truffles. Other minor reasons include aesthetics and finding the animals to pet them after you let them out (the latter being easily averted by petting, milking and shearing before you let the animals out).

This comment. +1

I have 24 pigs and they tend to dig out 40k worth of truffles. If they were everywhere on my farm, I'd lose it. Imagine missing a few truffles because I didn't check everywhere; truffles disappear after day 28 from what I read. I also shouldn't have to ride my around my horse everyday aronud the entire farm when I already do that when crops are ready to be harvested, that would kill time while them being enclosed makes things simple and easier. The only thing that should do whatever without being enclosed is the dog or cat as it doesn't do much.
