Fishing in the Ocean when winter ocean festival on

Is it not possible to fish when the winter boat festival activity happens? I have been trying to fish and only getting junk items, not sure if it is not possible to catch fish or I am just unlucky. Needing to fish at this point because I have a request to take a squid to someone.

Bah! Don't talk to me about fishing! I spent three hours today fishing and accidentally reset the game twice after getting everything I wanted.

Oh well, back to fishing...

I just finished that quest (squid for Willy). It's the first time I've actually fished to complete it. I did it early in the month, before the festival.

Usually I find a squid in one of the garbage cans, or buy one from the caravan. Worst case scenario is that you complete it next year.

This one wasnt for Willy, had already completed the squid for him at begining of the winter. Cant remember who this one was for, was one of the men im sure though

Oh, from the job board? Aren't those timed? I never do those. The festival you mention is just starting in my game. I'll try fishing and see what I get.

Iirc you can't access your inventory at all during any festival, aside from in a shop or a minigame/etc.. The whole HUD is gone, time doesn't pass, and so on.

I think the reason why is because of the fact that time doesn't pass. Otherwise you could essentially fish forever on the festival and be rich and max fishing level after your first festival near water.

the 3 day festival is different, time isn't paused and you can still fish and do everything else
